Kimberly O’Connor Biss, M.D. was born in Holyoke, MA in 1967.
She moved to New Jersey at the age of six and resided there until she left
for college. She returned to Massachusetts to pursue her higher education
earning a B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley and then
earning her medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
Wanting to move out of the cold and snowy weather she moved to Atlanta, GA
to do an internship in General Surgery at Emory University School of
Medicine. She then completed her residency training in Obstetrics and
Gynecology at
Bayfront Medical Center
in St.
Petersburg, FL. In 1998 she began private practice in St. Petersburg and has
been practicing medicine in the community ever since.
She is a Diplomat of The American Board of Obstetrics and
Gynecology and a Fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists.
Dr. Biss has maintained her ties with the residency program at
which she trained and served as Administrative Chief Resident Physician. She
takes part in the residency education by taking call with the resident
physicians at night and on weekends. Her duties and donation of time earned
her the Attending of the Year award in 2005.
Dr. Biss married her husband, Jerry, right before graduating
from Tufts. He attended Rutgers University and studied Geology. Dr. Biss and
her husband have two children, KaLeigh and Zachary, ages 8 and 10 years,
respectively. Both children were born at Bayfront Medical Center where Dr.
Biss still continues to practice. The Biss family welcomed their third
"child", an adopted greyhound named Rocky (Rock and Roll) from the Gandy
Greyhound Race Track, in 2004. When not at work Dr. Biss enjoys spending
time with her family, running, listening to music, driving her JEEP, making
jewelry and other crafts and watching ice hockey. Go Bolts!
